As things turned out, it was unfortunate – and painful – for Detroit Lions fan Jaime Valdez that he and Tony Leal, a friend and lifelong Cowboys fan, were at the home of tattoo artist Chris Garcia when Detroit lost to Green Bay in its regular-season finale and wound up in a wild-card playoff against Dallas.
According to a story on mlive.com, Valdez and Leal were discussing a friendly wager when Garcia suggested they bet a tattoo on the game.
“We were just talking about betting,” Valdez said. “So Critter (Chris Garcia) said, ‘Why don’t you guys bet each other a tattoo. Loser gets the winner’s tattoo.’ So we were both OK with it so we spit on our hands and shook on it.”
Dallas’ rally from a 14-0 deficit to a 24-20 win meant Valdez would have to adorn his body with the Cowboys’ star logo.
“The deal is it had to be at least the size of a silver dollar, it looks more like a 10-cent piece,” Leal said of the tatoo on his friend’s upper right arm.
The tattoo must stay on his skin for one year per the deal, then he can choose to have it covered up.
