Tattoo shops offer free Trump and Sanders ink ahead of primaries

Tattoo parlors in New England are inking Donald Trump and Bernard Sanders supporters for free if they’re willing to brand their bodies with the names, faces or slogans of either presidential hopeful ahead of the upcoming New Hampshire primaries.

After the owner of The Clay Dragon Tattoo Parlor in Seabrook, New Hampshire, announced last month that he was offering free tattoos of Mr. Trump for fans of the Republican Party front-runner, Aartistic Inc. in Winooski, Vermont, agreed to do the same with designs inspired by the Democratic hopeful.

Tyre Duvernay, the owner of Aartistic, originally said he would give out complimentary tattoos of Mr. Sanders’ face only to customers who who wanted to cover up Trump-related ink, but has since started offering his free designs to anyone who will show their support for the Democratic contender.

“We’re personally insulted by the whole free Donald Trump tattoo and I don’t want people to get the wrong idea only Donald Trump has followers that are that passionate,” he told a local ABC News affiliate last week.

Mr. Duvernay said his phone has been ringing nonstop since he announced the promotion last week, with customers from across the country booking appointments.

“We’ve done at least 30,” he told an ABC affiliate in New York Wednesday. “We’re getting five to 10 calls a day, and there are plenty more on the books.”

As of Thursday, the artist said his staffers had given out about 60 free tattoos of the senator between his Winooski shop and another in Montpelier, The Observer reported.

Across state lines in New Hampshire, however, the billionaire businessman is polling not too far behind Mr. Sanders — at least tattoo-wise.

Bob Holmes, the owner of Clay Dragon, told reporters this week that he has done about 27 designs involving the Trump campaign since he announced he would be inking customers for free late last month.

“Come in, pick your logo, pick his face, pick whatever you want that says ‘Trump.’ We’ll do it for free. 100 percent for free,” Mr. Holmes told ABC News this week.

Customers are welcome to tip the tattoo artists at Clay Dragon, but Mr. Holmes said his employees will be donating a percentage of any money earned with Trump tattoos to a charity that supports wounded veterans.

Both Mr. Trump and Mr. Sanders are in New Hampshire this week ahead of the state’s first-in-the-nation primaries on Tuesday.

Katie Price defends piercing 18-month-old daughter's ears

LONDON — Katie Price says she doesn’t need to justify piercing 18-month-old daughter Bunny’s ears.

The 37-year-old English television personality defended her choice on Tuesday’s episode of ITV talk show Loose Women after facing heavy backlash for the decision.

“What about kids who get circumcised They don’t have a choice,” Price said in response to critics claiming Bunny didn’t have a choice. “[My husband] Kieran’s half Spanish and it’s their tradition … What can I say, she’s had it done and she looks beautiful with it.”

Price had shared photos of Bunny with the piercing on Instagram over the weekend. The television personality complained Mariah Carey, Kim Kardashian and Angelina Jolie also pierced their daughters’ ears but did not face criticism.

Price is mom to Bunny and 2-year-old son Jett with husband Kieran Hayler, whom she married in 2013. She also shares 13-year-old son Harvey with Dwight Yorke, and 10-year-old son Junior and 8-year-old daughter Princess with first husband Peter Andre.

“He makes me laugh, I love him so much, he does on me,” the star said of Harvey, who has Prader-Willi syndrome, on This Morning in October. “Of all my kids, everyone tells me Harvey is their favorite because he is so funny and his personality has to come out … He is hard work but I wouldn’t change him for anything.”

Price came to fame as a glamour model before appearing on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! and a series of Channel 4 documentaries about her personal life. She competed on and won Celebrity Big Brother Season 15 in February. Annie Martin

Stink over the ink

A tattoo studio is suing NBA 2K16 publisher Take-Two Interactive for $1,144,000.

According to Hollywood Reporter (via Eurogamer), Solid Oak Sketches filed a copyright on Monday for the tattoos of eight different NBAers – including LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, DeAndrew Jordan, Eric Bledsoe and Kenyon Bryant – for the unauthorised reproduction of tattoo designs.

The tattoos were created by Shawn Rome, Justin Wright and Tommy Ray Cornett, who maintain that they had signed copyright license agreements with the players.

Claiming that the value of the tattoos is $819,500, the studio wants $1,144,000 to permit perpetual license to use the designs. As James’ tattoos are visible on the cover, the claim maintains that “given that those two tattoos are ‘the face’ of the 2014 game, their marketing and promotion value is, conservatively, at least four times the value of the rest of the tattoos.”

“It’s clear that they knew that this was something that was to be negotiated,” said Darren Heitner of Heitner Legal.

This isn’t the first time a professional’s tattoo has caused issues. In 2012, tattooer Chris Escobedo successfully sued THQ for using Carlos Condit’s tattoo in UFC Undisputed 3, securing $22,500.
